About this event

The day will cover aspects of antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance and management of clinical infections. The day will focus on issues predominant in secondary and primary care. Patients with infections often present with a variety of challenges, including resistant organisms, deterioration and not responding to first line treatment, or other complications. A wide range of topical areas will be covered during the day and there will be opportunity for delegates to present their own QI work. 

Aim

The aim of this symposium is to provide attendees with an update on the current antimicrobial stewardship agenda in the modern NHS and to enhance and share knowledge in the antimicrobial stewardship networks. 

Target audience

This event will be of particular benefit to primary and secondary care pharmacists involved in the care of patients with infections and those working in the area of antimicrobial stewardship. The event is suitable for pharmacists who have recently specialised as well as those who are working at advanced levels. 

Learning outcomes

By the end of this symposium, attendees should be able to: 

Enhanced Knowledge of AMS Strategies:

  • Identify and implement effective antimicrobial stewardship strategies tailored to virtual ward settings and fluoroquinolone update in primary and secondary care settings. 

Application of AMS research

  • Outline how to carry out academic publishing and an opportunity to present your own QI work. Discuss the findings from TUCKSHOP study carried out by the UKCPA Infection Committee. 

Expanding the AMS workforce:

  • Describe how the role of an AMS nurse and AMS pharmacy technician can assist in delivering the AMS agenda.

Registration will close at midnight on Sunday 05 October 2025 or earlier if maximum capacity is reached. Should this event not reach its minimum number, the UKCPA reserves the right to cancel the symposium.
