The UKCPA Infection Committee (also known as the UKCPA Pharmacy Infection Network) have raised the profile of pharmacy both within the UK and internationally, and regularly work with domestic and international organisations to continue their mission. They consistently deliver sell-out learning events, contribute to national consultations and policy development, and respond to media enquiries around infection management.
The Infection Committee is active within UKCPA as national leaders of pharmacy and is rapidly growing its influence internationally.
The Committee has developed a professional curriculum in the area of antimicrobials which has been endorsed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Public Health England, the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group and the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.
The Committee regularly host sessions at the prestigious Federation of Infection Societies conference. Members of the UKCPA Infection Committee are also regularly invited to speak at international conferences and contribute to global initiatives.
The Infection Committee supports the UK Antibiotic Guardian initiative, the European Antibiotic Awareness Day and the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, and have been successful in promoting these initiatives and garnering support.
Committee member Philip Howard has been elected as the President of the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, the first pharmacist president in its 45-year history.
