The UKCPA Gastroenterology & Hepatology Group is highly active in contributing expertise to the pharmacy community

The group were also one of the first to develop professional curricula in their area of practice, now hosted by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
The group regularly advises NICE on their guidelines and technology appraisals, most recently on medicines for Hepatitis C, Crohn’s disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Members of the group are involved in the Hepatology Operational Delivery Networks which has created opportunities for pharmacists to develop their role and is reflected in new local pharmacy networks being developed.
The group has strong links with the Crohn’s & Colitis UK charity.
Members of the group have been heavily involved in the UK IBD audit which measures the efficacy, safety and appropriate use of biological therapies in patients with IBD in the UK, as well as capturing patients’ views on their quality of life at intervals during their treatment.
