The UKCPA Diabetes & Endocrinology Group are passionate about improving the care of patients who live with diabetes



The Diabetes & Endocrinology Group share their expertise across all sectors of pharmacy, from hospital to community, GP practices and primary care commissioning groups, in addition to representing clinical pharmacy at national and international forums.

Activity highlights 

Sallianne Kavanagh currently represents the Royal Pharmaceutical Society on the Parliamentary Diabetes Think Tank, which seeks to drive improvements in diabetes treatment and care, and recently won the Rowan Hillson Insulin Safety Award.

The Group have recently highlighted and championed the role of clinical pharmacists in the care of patients with diabetes through national awards such as the Quality in Care Diabetes Awards and the Rowan Hillson Insulin Safety Award.

Victoria Ruszala and Philip Newland-Jones are on the NHS England Endocrinology Clinical Reference Group, and Philip is also a CQC specialist advisor.

The Group have strong links with the charity Diabetes UK, with Philip Newland-Jones being a member of their Professional Council and Elizabeth Hackett as a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion.

We are currently looking for:

  • Speakers and tutors for diabetes learning events, including conference workshops, masterclasses and webinars
  • Practitioners who can comment on national consultations in the area of diabetes and endocrinology
  • Practitioners who have a flair for writing to produce articles for the UKCPA newsletter and website
