Overview
The Committee champion the diabetes patient community through collaborative work with charities and are at the forefront of multi-disciplinary working and developing the profession to meet the demands of the future healthcare system.
They represent expertise across all sectors of pharmacy, from hospital to community, GP practices and primary care commissioning groups, in addition to representing clinical pharmacy at national and international forums.
Their expertise is sought for parliamentary discussions, national guideline and appraisal consultations and international conferences.

Achievements
The Committee are enthusiastic about improving diabetes care in all sectors of pharmacy. There is a strong element of mentoring, which allows the more senior and experienced committee members to support new members to develop their portfolios and take on new roles locally, regionally and nationally.
Members of the Committee, together with a virologist and input from the Health Protection Agency and the World Health Organization, produced guidance for treating influenza in critically ill patients.
In 2018 the Committee developed the Integrated Career and Competence Framework for pharmacists in diabetes.
