The opening session of the IBD series will deliver essential insights into the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). By establishing a strong scientific foundation, this session will enable participants to better understand the therapeutic targets in IBD and mechanisms of action behind advanced therapies and appreciate how these innovations are shaping the current and future treatment landscape for IBD. Attendees will gain knowledge directly applicable to clinical practice, supporting informed therapeutic decisions and enhancing patient care. 

This session will also provide valuable insights into current clinical trial designs in IBD, enabling attendees to critically analyse data from the latest trials.

Aim

The aim of this webinar is to provide attendees with a foundational understanding of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including its underlying pathophysiology, key therapeutic targets, and the principles of clinical trial design relevant to its treatment and research.

Target audience

This webinar is intended for advanced level hospital pharmacists in the UK with a specialist focus.

Learning outcomes

After this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Describe basic pathophysiology of IBD
  • Outlines potential therapeutic targets
  • Discuss basic clinical trial design
