This thought-provoking webinar will equip secondary care pharmacists with the necessary clinical judgment and background knowledge to navigate insulin management in critical care. We will critically discuss the crucial, often non-linear decision of whether to continue, adjust, or initiate basal insulin in the acutely unwell patient. The focus will be on achieving safe glycaemic management, minimising the risk of hypoglycaemia and DKA, and ensuring continuity of care in complex cases. We will explore evidence-based strategies and real-world experience for safe insulin management from ICU admission to discharge and beyond.
The aim of this webinar is to equip secondary care pharmacists with the clinical judgment and knowledge to make informed, evidence-based decisions on insulin management in critically ill patients, ensuring safe glycaemic control and continuity of care.
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in critical care or urgent care, any pharmacist with an interest in diabetes and endocrinology, and those in secondary care wishing to develop or refresh their knowledge on diabetes are encouraged to attend this webinar.
