About this event

The launch of Version 3 of the Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (GPICS) marks a significant step forward in defining the role, expectations, and accountability of pharmacy teams within ICU.

This webinar will provide a practical and strategic overview of the minimum standards for ICU pharmacy services, exploring what they mean in real terms for frontline pharmacy teams, service leads, and pharmacy managers. We will examine how these standards should be interpreted, implemented, and evidenced within local services, and how they align with governance, assurance, and patient safety priorities.

Aim

The aim of this webinar is to provide attendees with understanding and context to the changes in GPICS 3.0 for pharmacy teams.

Target audience

This session is essential for all members of the ICU pharmacy team, ICU clinical leads nursing and medical, critical care network managers, chief pharmacists and pharmacy clinical services managers, and anyone involved in planning, delivering, or assuring ICU pharmacy services.

Learning outcomes

After this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and intent of the minimum standards within the Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (Version 3) and describe their implications for ICU pharmacy teams and service leads.
  • Describe how teams can use these new standards to identify gaps, risks, and priorities, including appropriate escalation to organisational/dept. risk registers, to leverage change in ICU pharmacy services.
  • Apply the updated guidance to inform service planning and future development, including anticipating the evolving role of pharmacy technicians and assistants for future versions of GPICS.
