Managing insulin alongside enteral feeding remains one of the highest‑risk areas in inpatient diabetes care — yet national consensus and robust evidence are still lacking. This webinar brings together clinical experience, case-based learning, and practical strategies to help pharmacists navigate this complex interface with confidence. We will explore real examples of harm, unpack why current practice varies so widely, and walk through pragmatic insulin–feed alignment regimens that can be safely applied at the bedside.
Pharmacy professionals will leave with learning they can immediately apply to improve safety and consistency in their own organisations as this session will provide practical tools with clear, actionable guidance on prescribing back‑up fluids, methods to prevent feed‑related harms including hypoglycaemia, and equip attendees with the skills and confidence to appropriately calculate reasonable insulin doses mapped to feeding regimens.
The aim of this webinar is to equip pharmacy professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to safely and effectively manage insulin in adults receiving enteral feeding, reducing risks of harm through improved insulin–feed alignment, appropriate dosing and proactive prevention of hypoglycaemia.
This webinar has been designed for advanced hospital and generalist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians managing insulin in adults receiving enteral feeding
