About this event

This webinar introduces the key concepts underpinning intravenous fluid therapy, with a particular focus on its use in emergency and acute care settings. Attendees will explore the rationale behind fluid choice, review commonly used intravenous fluids and examine their associated risks and benefits. The session will support informed decision-making when initiating, designing, and reviewing intravenous fluid regimens in practice.

Aim

The aim of this webinar is to enhance attendees’ understanding of the pathophysiological and clinical concepts of commonly used intravenous fluids.

Target audience

This webinar is ideal for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in hospital and generalist settings who want an introduction to intravenous fluid therapy, with a focus on emergency and acute care.

Learning outcomes

After this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the indications for IV fluid therapy
  • Describe the pathophysiological considerations to choosing different IV Fluids
  • Discuss the clinical risks/benefits and monitoring of IV fluid therapies
