Genomics-informed medicines optimisation and applications in infection

About this event

Genomics is a key element of the recent NHS 10 Year Plan, along with a pledge to incorporate pharmacogenomics (PGx) into routine clinical practice.   There are several areas where this overlaps with infection, from pharmacogenomics of antimicrobials to rapid diagnostics and prediction of Adverse Drug Reactions. We will discuss possible future developments within the NHS and what needs to happen in order for genomics-informed medicines optimisation to be integrated into prescribing practice.  

Aim

The aim of this webinar is to increase attendees awareness of applications of genomics in infection and genomics-informed medicines optimisation more generally.

Target audience

This event is aimed at pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working across hospital, generalist, academic and related professional sectors, with an interest in genomics-informed medicines optimisation and its applications in infection.

Learning outcomes

After this webinar, attendees should be able to:

• Discuss applications of genomics in medicines optimisation including for antimicrobials
• Discuss applications of genomics in diagnosis of infection
• Describe some of the key issues in implementation of genomics in prescribing pathways
