This infection masterclass will provide an up-to-date overview of the antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) agenda within the modern NHS, drawing on insights from established AMS networks. The programme will explore effective antimicrobial stewardship strategies in the management of endocarditis and examine the wider NHS AMS landscape across both primary and secondary care settings, including an update on Pharmacy First. The day will feature a multidisciplinary panel discussion with a consultant pharmacist, AMS specialist technician, AMS regional lead, and AMS nurse, offering perspectives on diverse career pathways in antimicrobial stewardship. Delegates will also have the opportunity to share and present their own quality improvement work and case studies.
The aim of this masterclass is to update attendees on the NHS antimicrobial stewardship agenda, share best practice in endocarditis management across care settings, and support learning through multidisciplinary discussion, career insights, and quality improvement sharing.
This masterclass will be of particular benefit to primary and secondary care pharmacists, technicians or AMS nurses involved in the care of patients with infections and those working in the area of antimicrobial stewardship.
