In April 2019, the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) and the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) produced a joint response on behalf of our members on the proposal for a five-year pharmacist apprenticeship scheme by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IATE). We had expressed our concerns on engagement with the profession, the level of detail provided, alignment with the NHS 10-year plan and other national directives.
IATE considered all recommendations and put this proposal on hold. The UKCPA has now been invited to a wider consultation which will take place in July 2019 with the involvement of a number of pharmacy bodies.
As this matter is of a significant importance, we encourage our members to submit any views or concerns to Marie Matthews (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Islam Elkonaissi (Islam.Elkonaissi@rmh.nhs.uk) by 30th June 2019.
We will endeavour to make sure your voice is heard.
