Overview:

In the last few years there has been an improved understanding of and support for the treatment of debilitating menopause symptoms in women. This webinar will cover the rational prescribing of HRT in this current climate.

At the same time as the demand for treatment of menopause symptoms has increased there has been an unprecedented supply failure of the most common treatment options. This webinar will focus on how to navigate the tricky world of substitutes in order to maximise best outcomes for your patients. 

Delegates will be expected to undertake a small amount of pre reading before attending the webinar.

This webinar is ideal for hospital and community pharmacists involved in menopause medication review or supply function of HRT.

Aim and learning outcomes:

The aim of this webinar is to review the principles under-pinning HRT prescribing.  This will include a focus on supply and substitution aspects.

After this webinar, participants should be able to:

1. Discuss the risks and benefits of HRT
2. Identify the different HRT regimens that are available in the UK
3. Identify resources that support HRT regimen changes and substitutions

Dr Nuttan Tanna, Consultant Pharmacist, Women’s Health & Osteoporosis / Bone Health, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

Nuttan Tanna runs 2 weekly medication management clinics as an NHS outpatient MDT linked specialist service. Her job remit includes education and training, research, policy and leadership work. Expertise in action research methodology and quality improvement, with focus on NHS patient pathways, shared decision making and medicines optimisation. Other areas of interest: Breast Cancer and Menopause; Premature Ovarian Insufficiency; Vitamin D.
