This is the first session in our Enhancing the safe care of diabetes patients webinar series.

During this webinar we will provide an overview of intravenous insulin regimens used within secondary care and how to promote the safe and effective use of these for your patients; including some common pitfalls, methods for monitoring and to promote good practice and share learning.

This session is ideal for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The aim of this webinar is to increase awareness of the use of IV insulin and safety incidents related to errors/harm.

After this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Identify the most common intravenous insulin regimens used for patients in secondary care
  2. Review common incidents that occur for patients treated with intravenous insulin during inpatient admissions
  3. Consider what actions we can incorporate in our daily practice to improve insulin safety
