This is the third session in our Enhancing the safe care of diabetes patients webinar series.

During this final session in our webinar series we will provide an overview of commonly used insulin regimens for patients with more complex social needs and the safety concerns surrounding them, review common incidents that occur when these patients transition between sectors of care to promote good practice and share learning.

This session is ideal for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The aim of this webinar is to increase awareness of insulin safety incidents and reduce insulin related errors/harm when transitioning between care.

After this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Identify key considerations when reviewing insulin regimens for patients with complex social needs
  2. Review common incidents that occur during transition of care across sectors and understand the current work being done to improve safe and effective use of insulin in these situations
  3. Consider what actions we can incorporate in our daily practice to improve insulin safety

Speakers:

Prabhdeep Sidhu, Deputy Chief Pharmacist/Medicines Safety Officer, Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust

Matthew Heppel, Advanced Clinical Diabetes and Endocrinology Pharmacist, Hull University Teaching Hospitals
