This is the second session in our Enhancing the safe care of diabetes patients webinar series.

This session will focus on the more general rules of insulin safety, including rules such as the 6 R’s of insulin safety. Our speakers will discuss the various aspects needed for insulin safety within an inpatient or care setting such as hospitals and care homes. They will talk on the common themes seen in errors with insulin, methods to avoid these in your practice and how to support your system moving towards safe insulin governance.

This session is ideal for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The aim of this session is to educate and update attendees on the essential considerations for practices to ensure safe insulin use within their systems.

After this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Revise the fundamental insulin safety rules
  2. Review common incidents that occur for patients treated with subcutaneous insulin in hospitals and other high-risk care settings
  3. Consider what actions we can incorporate in our daily practice to improve insulin safety
