Session 2 of a 2 part series

Administration of medicines by carers in end of life or palliative care should be supported where requested however requires careful consideration and risk assessment to ensure patient safety.

This webinar is suitable for all health professionals involved in decision making, training and competency assessment of carer administration of medicines.

The aim of this session is to help clinicians in joint decision making and risk assessment when supporting carers in medicines administration in end of life or palliative care.

Learning outcomes
After this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss risks associated with medicines administration by carers in EOL/Palliative Care
  • Discuss the main considerations to be taken into account to mitigate against associated risks with medicines administration by carers in EOL/Palliative care
  • Explain how to involve carers and patients in the decision-making process to ensure understanding of roles and responsibilities when administering medicines in EOL/Palliative care to a close family member or friend.
