This is the second in a series of three webinars.
This series of webinars will consider some of the key safety and prescribing concerns of opioids in the management of pain conditions, in primary and secondary care, coupled with providing practical guidance and information on how pharmacological therapy should be reviewed and assessed in these settings. It will also help to provide some contextual examples of how best to identify key touch points of harm associated with opioids, and what to do to minimise the risks.
This series of webinars is ideal for anyone managing or involved in the care of complex pain patients, or in the safer use of opioids, particularly hospital and primary care pharmacy staff, and anyone with a medication safety remit within their role.
Webinar 2 is suitable for pharmacists practicing at a higher or advanced level.
After this webinar, participants should be able to:
- Facilitate the delivery of pharmaceutical care with commonly used opioid medications in patients with acute on chronic pain and patients with a history of opioid abuse, in primary and secondary care settings.
- Identify and take steps to resolve safety issues including the use of naloxone in different clinical circumstances and reducing selection errors.
