Abstract and Awards programme
The abstract submission process for presentation in 2023 will open and Easter and close at 12 noon, 11 June 2023.
This year, the UKCPA will be recognising the following submissions:
- Best Abstract
- Best Poster (from all pharmacy team members including Pharmacy Technicians and work done as Pre Registration Pharmacists)
All accepted abstracts will be included in the electronic abstract booklet and invited to present a poster at the UKCPA Conference 2023. Winners will be announced during the UKCPA Conference 2023, date and venue to be confirmed.
By having your abstract accepted you will receive the following benefits:
- A conference proceeding citation for your CV. All accepted abstracts which conform to the specified guidelines will be published in the Abstract Guide and online
- An opportunity to present your valuable work to the wider pharmacy community, during the abstract and poster presentation webinar
Important notice: All submissions must adhere to the specified guidelines and formats. Please check the guidelines before preparing your work.
Only UKCPA members are eligible to have their work included at our conferences and events. We accept submissions from non members but membership must be taken out prior to receiving any abstract feedback or conference registration.

Our members have the exclusive ability to apply for several prestigious awards which offer peer recognition of excellence in clinical pharmacy practice. Winners are presented with their awards at one of our masterclasses or at our annual conference, and are invited to present a poster of their winning work at the annual conference.

UKCPA Outstanding Achievement Award 2023
The UK Clinical Pharmacy Association is delighted to invite nominations for the UKCPA Outstanding Achievement Award 2023. This prestigious award aims to recognise outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacy practice from individuals who have grown and consistently delivered on their professional development over a number of years.
The selection panel will be particularly keen to reward achievements in developing and promoting clinical pharmacy, innovation, research and development, publication and dissemination of good practice, and peer recognition.
UKCPA Outstanding Achievement Award winner
The winner will be notified personally by the Chair of UKCPA.
The winner is invited to make a short acceptance speech during the UKCPA Conference 2023, date and venue TBC, plus an interview to be published in Rx Magazine, highlighting their experiences and inspiring fellow practitioners to achieve great things in their careers.
The winner will also be awarded lifetime honorary membership of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association.
UKCPA Outstanding Contribution Award 2023
The UK Clinical Pharmacy Association is delighted to invite nominations for the UKCPA Outstanding Contribution Award 2023. This award aims to recognise outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacy practice.
The selection panel will be particularly keen to reward a single piece of work in a calendar year that:
- Has furthered clinical pharmacy practice
- Improves patient care, practice research, innovation and service development
- Promotes the profession (pharmacy) within the multi disciplinary team
- Supports the vision of the UKCPA in some form, ie education
UKCPA Outstanding Contribution Award winner
The winner will be notified personally by the Chair of UKCPA.
The winner is invited to make a short acceptance speech during the UKCPA Conference 2023, date and venue TBC, plus an interview to be published in Rx Magazine, highlighting their experience and inspiring fellow practitioners to contribute to similar projects or publications their careers.
The winner will also be awarded 1 year’s honorary membership of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association.
Nomination process for both awards:
Nominees should be proposed and seconded by members of the UKCPA. Nominations should detail the nominee’s name and the reasons for the nomination in no more than 500 words. Nominees do not need to be members of the Association.
All nominations should be submitted to the UKCPA office via email to Marie Matthews: marie.matthews@ukcpa.com by 22 September 2023.
These awards are not limited to one recipient per year but will not necessarily be given every year; it is up to the discretion of the UKCPA selection panel whether any of the nominees should receive an award.
Winners will be announced during the UKCPA Conference 2023, date and venue to be confirmed.
