Diabetes UK have launched a new leadership programme which aims to identify future pharmacist leaders and enable them to grow the skills and experience necessary to make tangible improvements to diabetes care across a local system.
The role of pharmacists in supporting people living with diabetes is growing as a result of their unique position within the healthcare system to provide more personalised care to people living with diabetes. At the moment pharmacists are not consistently supported to become leaders in their field and drive change in diabetes care. The brand new Diabetes UK Pharmacy Leaders programme responds to these needs.
The programme is aimed at experienced practicing pharmacists with the ambitions and ability to improve diabetes care and deliver evidence based change.
To find out more about the programme and how to apply, visit the Diabetes UK website.
The programme compromises of:
- Formal leadership training at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, International Centre of Excellence for Type 2 diabetes research, education and innovation
- Coaching to deliver a change project
- Peer support and challenge through regional action learning sets
- Opportunities to share best practice and network with inspiring leaders
