Members

The group has recently raised their profile within the healthcare world following the publication of the Handbook of Peri-operative Medicines in 2016. The Handbook has been widely acclaimed and is building a reputation as an essential resource for both pharmacy and medical practitioners in this clinical area.

The group has established close links with organisations such as the Royal College of Anaesthetists, working to both share their expertise and raise the profile of clinical pharmacy with the wider medical community in this area of practice.

Activity highlights

The UKCPA Surgery & Theatres Group led the production of the Handbook of Peri-operative Medicines, the first national guidance to professionals working in this area of medicine. Developed collaboratively by clinical pharmacy experts working in the area of Surgery, the Handbook provides much needed evidence-based, best practice advice on the management of peri-operative medications, and has been endorsed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Preoperative Association.

The group share their expertise through delivering UKCPA Masterclasses and workshops, ensuring that they deliver a range of learning events relevant to practitioners at all stages of practice and speciality.

They also work closely with other organisations, such as the Royal College of Anaesthetists, on national audit projects, guidelines and advisory groups.
