The day will cover aspects of implementing, optimising and replacing e-prescribing systems and draw on the experience of Trusts who will share their practical experience with attendees.
The day will include:
Replacing an e-prescribing system. A number of Trusts are now moving to their second iteration of an e-prescribing system. We will hear from a site that has been through this experience and hear their key learning points and reflections on the experience.
Patient safety: e-prescribing has a great potential to improve patient safety and the day will include a number of examples of how e-prescribing systems are improving the safer use of medicines.
e-PraSE. E-Prase will be a new tool to assess the maturity and scope of e-prescribing systems to assess the extent to which the system has been developed to support key safety and efficiency benefits of local e-prescribing systems.
Closed loop medicines administration: Increasing numbers of trusts are moving to closed loop / bar-code administration of medicines and attendees will hear about progress with the aspect of e-prescribing systems.
Decision support: Determining when to use decision support, in terms of how much is too much or too little, is a real challenge for EPMA. Issues raised at the GDE medicines group (priority areas, hard stops, alert fatigue, monitoring users actions etc.) will be discussed and debated during this session.
This event will be of particular benefit to pharmacists involved in providing and developing / optimising electronic prescribing systems including those who are now at a stage where they are considering implementing a first or a move to a second system.
The aim of the day will be to cover a variety of topics relevant to hospitals who already have or are thinking of replacing e-prescribing systems, and particularly, those hospitals who are looking to implement e-prescribing systems for the first time.
Attending this event will help you advance your professional practice and could be used as evidence in your RPS Faculty and GPhC revalidation portfolios. The day will cover Core Advanced and Specialist areas of knowledge.
In addition, peer discussion opportunities will be available at this event, which can also be used towards your CPD and portfolios. Advanced booking essential.
The pharmaceutical industry has been invited to financially support this event by booking exhibition stand space. Stand sponsors have no input into the content of the event.
